Black Stars midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has asserted that he has confidence in his Black Stars playing mates despite their recent struggles.

Following consecutive victories against Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the senior national team have faced challenges in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches.

Under Otto Addo as the head coach, the team experienced a surprising 1-0 loss to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium in Group F, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger in Berkane.

Despite this rocky start, Ashimeru remains optimistic about the squad's potential.

"We’re taking it step by step, but I believe we can go far because we have some amazing players," he told Flashscore.com.

"We’re just hoping for the best and will keep pushing forward," he affirmed.

The Black Stars are set to return to action in October, hosting Sudan for a doubleheader in the AFCON qualifiers next month.

Currently sitting third in their group with just one point, Ghana will face Sudan at home on Friday, October 11, before heading to Libya for the return match at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday, October 14.
