They might not have won the 2017 National Maths and Science Quiz but they very well are poised to bring home the trophy from the annual inter-schools basketball tournament next season, with a newly constructed basketball court in place.

The 1979 year group of Odade3 (Old Presecans) commissioned a newly constructed basketball court for the school as part of activities to mark the 2017 edition of PREGISS.

President of Odade3 Global, Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Markwei, who commissioned the edifice expressed confidence in the boys securing the championship trophy from its current holders; Opoku Ware School at this year’s ‘Sprite Ball’ competition.

According to him, the edifice will serve the purpose of a training grounds where they can build their skills very well for the next competition and subsequent ones. He also urged them to make use of the court to make the school proud.

“whether they like it or not, with the designs and all, that shows you that we are serious people, we are telling them that they should produce basketball champions, because with something like this, if we don’t win inter-school basketball, then we will come and break it down”, he said.

He commended members of the ’79 group for putting up the court.

The Sprite Ball Championship has since its inception in 2007, featured several schools from all 10 regions of the country. Presec won the inter-schools basketball championship in 2008 and came up as the first runners-up in 2014. They obviously are looking forward to winning the trophy this year from its current holders Opoku Ware.

PREGISS, is an annual event which brings together past students from the Presbyterian Boys School (PRESEC) and Aburi Girls Secondary School (ABUGISS) for fun games and a family funfair event. This year’s edition of the program came off Saturday July 1 at the Presec Alumni Center in Accra.
