Spokesperson for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Elvis Adjei-Baah has dismissed reports that his outfit has abandoned the government White Paper on the 2014 World Cup fiasco.

There have been huge public criticisms, blaming the government for ignoring the report after the president Nana Akufo- Addo revealed at the 2018 encounter with the media at the Presidency that the report is not on his radar but trusts the sports ministry to implement what is in the report.

It is believed that the current government does not give much prominence to the work of the commission of inquiry which was set up by former president John Dramani Mahama to investigate incidents that led to Ghana’s poor show at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Speaking to Sportsworldghana.com, Elvis Adjei Baah insists the government’s whitepaper report is in full force though some part is yet to be implemented because those parts are in court.

“We have not abandoned the White Paper in anyway because we are fully implementing it apart from the section that is being contested in court,”

“For example the winning bonus issue of the national teams, which was a recommendation in the White Paper”

“Moreover, the White Paper also discourages the Ministry from financing various supporters unions to go and support the national teams.

“The White Paper has recommended that we rationalize all these supporters unions and form one national union and we are working on that” he told Sportsworldghana.com

“It is also evidently clear that the directive that winning bonuses must not be paid to players in cash has been implemented. Now winning bonuses are paid through a formalized banking system.”

“The sports ministry since the report, does not also travel with money to pay winning bonuses for national teams as it stated", he added.
