All hopes are not lost yet, the Black Queens will “pull through” the challenge of qualifying from their group, in the ongoing 2018 African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON), Bashiru Hayford, the head coach of Black Queens has said.

Ghana stands in a difficult situation after a shocking 2-1 defeat to Mali in their second group game, which puts the team third on the group behind Cameroon and Mali.

Cameroon, sits top of the group with six points having won all their two previous games, whilst Mali with three points are only on goal difference better than the host.

Mali would be the favourites, when they play against the whipping girls of the group, Algeria, who have lost all their two previous games in the group already.

Meanwhile, Ghana would have to play above themselves to beat a strong Cameroonian side, who have a 100 per cent record so far, to enhance their chances of qualifying to the next stage.

With many of the host fans already giving up on their chances of qualifying, Hayford insists her girls would still qualify despite how herculean the task may seem.

“We are aware of an uneasy task ahead of us, but we are ready for the task,” Hayford said.

“I don’t think there is any team beyond the Ghana team, football is all about the team you would meet and we are not underestimating the Cameroonians, because they are though and stronger than us, but we would get the results tomorrow. Much as I share in your sentiments we will pull through,” he added.
