'We will qualify from the group' - Victoria Banful declares

Ampem Darkoa Ladies captain Victoria Banful says the team is confident of qualifying from their group and returning home with the trophy ahead of their opening game against ASEC.

Banful, who has featured in the competition several times, said the team has been working hard in camp and is determined to make Ghana proud.

“We’ve been having a lot of meetings, communication, and talking to each other. I know the mood in camp is very high, and the spirit is high. We are all prepared and ready for the match tomorrow,” she said.

The captain also revealed that the experienced players in the squad have been sharing their knowledge with the younger members of the team to help them cope with the demands of the competition.

According to Banful, Ampem Darkoa are expecting a competitive encounter against ASEC but believe their style of play can give them an advantage.

“They play like us because we dominate, we have the ball, and we try to move forward. That’s how we do it too. The players will fight for the team, and we are going to take the three points after the game,” she added.

Banful, who says she has participated in the tournament at least 10 times, expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and experience.

“We have already said it. We played with them before, and I have been to this tournament at least 10 times. So, I know them and they know us. That’s why I am so, so confident.”

She also urged supporters back home to rally behind the team as they begin their campaign.

“My message is to support us, and you should expect that we are going to make you proud tomorrow. We are a number of very proud Ghanaians,” Banful said.
