Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and Barcelona chief Pep Guardiola have reportedly made eleventh hour bids to sign Fredrikstad stiker Dominic Adiyiah.

AC Milan had announced on their official website on Saturday that the forward had agreed a deal to move to the San Siro in principal on January 1st, following a successful work permit application and medical. However, despite the announcement by AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, Wenger and Guardiola have made late bids to try and sign the player.

Galliani said: "There is a deal with the Norwegian club Fredrikstad FK.

"Now he needs to get the work permit to enter Italy and we will deposit the contract on January 1.

"Naturally he has to pass his medical first and then he will be our player.

"We bought him because he is a wide striker who can play in place of Alexandre Pato or Ronaldinho.

"Our system has changed now and we needed a wide forward who could train with those we already have at our disposal, so we made a move."

Arsenal and Barcelona may also find competition from Premier League rivals Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea for the talented front man.

The 20-year-old starred at the Under-20 World Cup, leading his country to glory, bagging the top-goalscorer prize and player of the tournament award.
