West Ham United are looking to compete for the signing of Olympique de Marseille man Andre Ayew and have offered a contract to the Ghana international, according to the BBC.

Ayew, who will be a free agent at the end of June when he comes to the close of his OM deal, has attracted considerable interest and is set to have several offers to choose from when he does come to making his decision.

Beyond the Hammers, Premier League heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to be keen on the player and were boosted recently with the news that talks had stalled between Ayew and AS Roma.

The Giallorossi had looked to be favourites for the Black Star, but Dede’s agent Bruno Satin revealed recently that the two parties were unable to agree on the conditions of the player’s contract.

However, Inter Milan, believed to be keen on the player, are lurking in the background and may also look to bid for Andre come the end of the month.

West Ham are currently without a manager after parting ways with Sam Allardyce at the end of the 2014-15 campaign. Until a new man is appointed, it is believed that one of the club’s owners, David Sullivan, is taking control of the club’s transfer policy, according to London 24.

While West Ham cannot boast of the status of the likes of Tottenham or Inter Milan, nor can they offer Champions League football, as Roma can, the club can offer a London location and a bright future, with the Claret and Blues set to move to the Olympic Stadium in 2016.

Intriguingly, one candidate to replace Allardyce at the club is Marcelo Bielsa, who oversaw Ayew’s final campaign at the Stade Velodrome.

The legendary Argentine boss may have been unable to guide OM back to the Champions League, but he remains a widely-respected coach who would represent a coup for the East Londoners.

Speaking to the BBC last month, Ayew indicated that he would be open to playing for any of England’s top ten, although it remains to be seen whether he would make an exception for West Ham—who finished the season in 12th.

One suspects that if Bielsa was there, the playmaker could definitely be tempted to join the Academy of Football.
