It has become a three-year circus of chopping and changing at Kotoko with administrative alterations being made every 36 months.

Every handing over ceremony is characterized by audacious promises resulting in the rising level of expectations among the club’s teeming fans.

As evidenced in the last few years, these promises mostly remain unfulfilled and the club’s progress is stalled.

Like the arrival of a baby, the appointment of board/management members usually ignites hopes only for it to ‘end in tears’ three years later.

On Monday, another set of distinguished persons were ushered in as new board members of Kotoko.

This new board is headed by Kwame Kyei who is the only surviving member of the last administration.

At their inauguration ceremony, the Chief of Staff of the Asantehene announced a number of tasks that Otumfuo Osei Tutu expects the board to accomplish by the end of their mandate.

Below are five of Otumfuo’s expectations

Win trophies

Annexing trophies must be the ultimate target for the new board. Kotoko should not only be competing at the top level of Africa football but also win trophies and regain its status as one of Africa’s best clubs.

Kotoko must get its own stadium

The Baba Yara Stadium has for decades served Kotoko as their home ground but its time they depart the state facility and get one that represents their rich history and ambitions.

Create a brand of football that represents Asanteman

It is a requirement of the new Kotoko board to create an environment that allows the coaches and players to play a unique style of football that represents Asanteman. The club invests in its youth and also buy players who appreciate the fact that Kotoko is not just an ordinary club.

Run Kotoko like a business entity

The new board is to ensure that the club is managed like a profit-making corporation and not a social club. They are supposed to formulate policies that will make it possible for Kotoko to generate revenue from all available sources.

Kotoko must be operated in accordance with corporate, FIFA, CAF and GFA rules.

Make Kotoko a Sporting Club

It is required of the new board to ensure that Kotoko lives up to its tag of being a sporting club.

A women’s team, basketball and boxing teams are some new things the board is expected to achieve.
