Former Ghana international, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, has urged coach Otto Addo to come clear on the future of André Dede Ayew in the Black Stars.

According to Agyemang Badu, there was a lot of ambiguity in the statement Otto Addo put out at the press conference.

The former Udinese midfielder noted that the Black Stars coach should have made his decision on Dede Ayew clear.

“He said he spoke with him, but the issue is what exactly did he tell him. Is it that he told him that he doesn’t need him now, or he won’t need him again? Because if he said he doesn’t need him again, then he should have named his successor as captain, but he only said Partey is the captain for now,” Badu said.

Agyemang-Badu disclosed that it would be better if Otto Addo made it clear to Dede Ayew.

"If he doesn’t need him anymore, he has to tell the player so that he can move on."

At a meet-the-press event held at the GFA headquarters, Otto Addo named Ghana’s squad for matches against Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, leaving out Dede Ayew.

When asked if Dede Ayew’s absence from the national team was permanent, Otto Addo refused to rule out Dede Ayew from his future squad.

He said, “Never say never; I don’t know what will happen next season. This is a decision I have taken this period, and that’s it. Because you don’t know what will happen.”

André Dede Ayew has made 120 caps for the Ghana national team and scored 24 goals.
