As the 2010 World Cup draws near one of the fascinating aspects of it is speculating who will be in the final squads of the respective countries. Speculation and analysis play a big role in upping the appetite of soccer lovers. It in this spirit that this author presents the following players as the possible 23 to represent Ghanain South Africa

1. Richard Kingston- Though a bench warmer at Wigan Athletic, Kingstonremains Ghana’s the best goalkeeper. He is very experienced and seems to be at his best whenever he is in post for the Black Stars

2. George Owu- Another idle goalkeeper. There were some reports that he was training with Tottenham Hotspurs but they have not as yet registered him. Even if he is still clubless I am still convinced that he can deputize well for Kingston.

3. Philemon McCarthy- Not much can be said about him.

4. John Paintsil- Paintsil is back from injury and that is good news for Ghana. Until his injury Paintsil was gradually emerging as one of the best fullbacks in the world! I hope he continues from where he left off.

5. Samuel Inkoom- The youngster proved his worth at African nation’s cup. He probably needs to take his defensive duties a bit more seriously to earn a place in the starting lineup at the world cup

6. Ibrahim Ayew-He proved his doubters wrong in the African Nations Cup and deserves to be in South Africa.

7. Lee Ardy- Like the rest of the youngsters his performance at the CAN makes him a sure bet for South Africa

8. Isaac Vorsah-Barring injury Vorsah will be a revelation at the world cup. He is a very good player. The only thing is, he needs to add some more steel to his game. Toughen up big guy!

9. John Mensah-The rock of Gibraltarhas had a very turbulent year with injury problems. My hope is that he will be fit come June. We simply need the Rock.

10. Agyemang Badu- This chap is a sure banker for South Africa. If he can manage to keep his game simple and give accurate passes he will be our next Essien.

11.Anthony Annan-Another sure banker, but he will get a very stiff competition from Badu when they get to South Africa.

12.Derek Boateng-The coach doesn’t seem to fancy him but I think his work rate at Getafe, his versatility and his experience will get him there.

13.Kevin- Prince Boateng- If the GFA and FIFA can get their act together; nothing can stop Boateng from going to South Africa. He is a very good player.

14. QuincyOwusu Abayie-I think he will crawl his way into the team.

15.Michael Essien- I hope and pray that this chap will bet fit for South Africa!

16.Stephen Appiah- a lot has been said about the inclusion or exclusion of the captain. This writer believes that Appiah’s inclusion is very crucial to the success of the Black Stars since a lot of the Players still look up to him. Maybe after this world cup he can rest his boots.

17.Mathew Amoah- Amoah also seem to be a spent force but with the caliber of strikers we have around I think Amoah will make it to South Africa

18.Prince Tagoe-He seems to possess the ability to become Ghana’s next Anthony Yeboah, yet he also at times has the semblance of Alex Tachie-Mensah. I hope the Yeboah side appears in South Africa.

19.Kojo Asamoah-A sure starter for Ghana! Please Kojo practice some good shooting.

20.Asamoah Gyan- This guy has peaked at the right time. Injury permit he is our hope for goals

21.Laryea Kingston-He seems to be on a shaky ground but I think he will make it.

22.Hans Adu Sapei-Hans will make to South Africaand possibly hang his boots thereafter.

23.Sule Ali Muntari-Welcome back prodigal son! A matured, repented Muntari will stun the world especially if Essien and Kojo Asamoah are around.

With these players Ghanacan definitely reach the semi- finals of the World Cup and may be win it. Remember Ghanais always the first Sub Saharan country to……

God Bless Ghana!!!
