Former Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Sani Mohammed has revealed the reason why he chose to retire from football to join the Ghana Police Service.

Sani Mohammed was officially passed out as a member of the Ghana Police Service in 2013 after graduating from the Northern Regional Police Service Training School.

The goalkeeper who quit football prematurely to concentrate on security job has finally explained why he took that decision.

“The players welfare has not been a priority for the clubs in Ghana” He told Best FM in Bogoso.

“The players are not insured hence some players suffer after their retirement from football.

“Working in the government sector is a different thing all together.

“You will be paid at the end of the month coupled with the insurance package you will enjoy upon your retirement.”

Sani Mohammed spent three seasons with the Phobians where he won the Ghana Premier League and the CAF Confederations Cup in 2002 and 2004 respectively.

He later joined Kotoko but left following the Porcupines failures to settle his financial entitlements and faded out of the Ghanaian football scene.
