Ghana’s delay to 2015 All Africa Games (AAG) may affect the country’s performance. Team Ghana still remains in the country with just 7 days to start All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville. Only time can tell if they are going to make it to Congo Brazzaville on time or not.
Chef de Mission Saka Acquaye for Team Ghana has revealed that Ministry of Finance has not released the ?16 million budget which has been approved by the Sports Ministry. The whole contingent should have left Ghana for Congo Brazzaville on Thursday 27th August 2015 according to Saka Acquaye.
However Ben Nunu Mensah who happens to a member of the Media Committee for Team Ghana as well as the president of Weightlifting Association has hinted that the whole contingent is expected to leave Ghana on Sunday morning in a chatted flight.
Speaking to Rainbow Sports Mr Ben Nunu Mensah stated categorically that athletes will not be affected by the delay. “How we get to Congo Brazzaville is not our athletes business, theirs’ is to focus on training whilst we convey them to New Kintele Stadium before the Games start on the 4th of September.”
The 11th African Games are scheduled for September 4–19, 2015 in Brazzaville, Congo. This edition marks the 50th anniversary of the Games, as well as their return to Brazzaville, which hosted the first edition in 1965.
