Wilson Arthur dispels rumour of using District Assembly funds for Skyy FC project

After rumour was rife that Wilson Arthur was diverting Assembly funds to finance the Skyy FC Project (Daboase St Martins Anglican Park), the Wassa East District Chief Executive has refuted the claims.

At the Town Hall Meeting held on 28th August 2018 at Daboase, Mr. Authur is said to have taken the opportunity explain how the project was funded.

Below are excerpts of his account

Skyy Power fm, his private business acquired 100% interest in Mighty Royals of Daboase in 2017. The teams was strengthened with outstanding players from Wassa East Communities and rebranded. In maiden participation of Division 2 Shama Zone football league, Skyy FC emerged winner to qualify for Western Region Middle league competition. Skyy FC won all its matches and beat all competition to qualify to GFA Division one in record one season.

Qualification came with the challenge of meeting stringent professional league venue standards if Daboase was to host Skyy FC home matches.

Entrepreneurial Governance approach kicked in. JustMoore Constructions contributed four machines days earthmoving works. Plantation Socfinaf Ghana contributed bulldozer, Grader and Backhoe machines on five weekends to complete the grounds preparation.

It took 343 Women in Daboase to offer communal labour to spread 60 top soli double axel truck trips to form base for the playing of pitch surface grass.

Inner perimter fencing, mechanised bore hole water supply, construction of 360 wester supporters and 360 seater vvip stands amd standard changing room and partial walling inclusive of labour, electricity supply services has cost Skyy Power fm Gh25, 750.

Not a pesewa of Wassa East District Assembly money has gone into transforming the stoney Daboase St Martins School Park into the current FIFA standard 90m x 105m grass park.

That is not all, Skyy FC is professionally resourced with a standard 37 Seater Clun Bus and 50 bed Club House as well as kits and motivational packages.

At the break of the season, Skyy Fc placed third on the 16 teams zone 2B division one league table sharing same points with second placed team.

Football is one area that Wassa East youth have comparative advantage so Skyy FC is a strategic ladder for the youth to achieve their destiny of playing professional football. It is also a strategic fit to the vision of making the district a model land of opportunities and prosperity.
