Wise Fighters protest against attack of players and supporters

Takoradi Nov.19, GNA - The Management of Sekondi Wise Fighters F/C have alleged that its players and supporters were physically attacked by supporters of Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs during their match at Cape Coast on November 13, this year.

It therefore called on the Division One League Board to put in the necessary structures to prevent such occurrences in future. Mr Emmanuel Kwesi Intsiful, Head of the Clubs' Marketing and Publicity Unit in a Press Release copied to the GNA Sports said supporters of Dwarfs started throwing stones at the players of Wise Fighters soon after the first goal.

It said Bob Zeo, a player of Wise Fighters sustained injury from the stoning and was carried off the field on a stretcher.

The release said supporters of Dwarfs also heckled and inflicted injury on a cameraman hired by the management of Wise Fighters to cover the match and an attempt was made to destroy his camera just before the commencement of the match.

It said some of the incidents that occurred on that day include an injury sustained by Mr Samuel Ackah, the club's Chairman with his shirt stained with blood from the injury while a supporter of the club also suffered a serious injury on his skull soon after the match. Mr Intsiful said the referee for the match, Mr Eric Owusu Mensah even allowed an offside goal against his club but the team did not protest and therefore appealed to Match Officials to ensure fair and balanced officiating to prevent future violence.

The management of the club also commended its supporters for comporting themselves before, during and after the match. The release asked all its supporters to comport themselves during their forthcoming match with Tarkwa United at the Sekondi Gyandu Park and urged the visiting team to do the same.

It said the management of the club will continue to educate its numerous fans to continuously comport themselves at matches. The release said, "This should not be read as weakness on the part of Sekondi Wise Fighters F/C but as a sign of maturity and the love for good and fair matches".
