The Accra Turf Club (ATC), would on Saturday, April 21, commence the Witsun Horserace.
The race would come off under the distinguished patronage of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The Witsun Horserace is organized by the ATC for seven continuous weeks after Easter celebrations in each year, to commemorate the descend of the Holy Ghost of the disciples.
Mr Samuel Nii Armah Turkson, the Secretary to the Board of Stewards of the ATC made this known in an interview with the GNA Sports.
He said four races would be held on Saturday, 21 and 28, at 1300 hours, with different distances to be covered.
According to Mr. Nii Armah Turkson, the divisions and distances to be covered are first race in Division 4A and 4C with a distance of seven furlongs, whilst the second race covers the distance of six furlongs in Division 3B, while the third in Division 2B and 3A; six furlongs.
The fourth race in the Novies Division covers five furlongs.
Mr Turkson appealed to corporate institutions to give special attention to the development and promotion of horseracing in the country.
He said: “The ATC is making everything possible to ensure the revival of horseracing in the country, because it is the only sport that can reap substantial benefits for the nation”.
