Madam Marisa Susan Fee CEO of First Digital, an Accra based TV station who has deep passion for sports has urged women to come together to find solutions to their problems and plan for the future.
Speaking at the grand launch of Women In Sports, an NGO at the Trinity United Church grounds at Madina near Legon in Accra, she said the formation of an association to defend and promote women’s sports was very ideal as it is time for women to realize their potentials and help themselves. She noted that the association would face obstacles, but as leaders they should try to scale them and move on.
Madam Fee commended the founders and leaders of WISA for their vision and tasked members to take education very serious as it is key in development. Gloria Commodore, the Executive Secretary of WISA called on members to be obedient to elders, especially executives and fellow members, hoping for a united and strong front that would be able to face the challenges of sports women. She informed that WISA, an NGO has been registered at the Register General Department of Ghana with directors and have appointed and elected executive regional members who were sworn in.
According to Gloria Commodore, more females are going into professionalism and they need to be guided and supported to attain the best of glories. Eunice Serwah, the President of WISA who brought up the idea on Facebook before it became a reality thanked all who made sure the event came off and charged members to get prepared for action to develop and promote the association and sports women.
Miss Heritage Ghana 2014, Zina Asiedu who was a guest shared ideas with some members of WISA and advised them to be take sanitation very serious at a time people are suffering from cholera and ebola in some West Africa States. Jane Ayieyam, striker of the Black Maidens and Patricia Bampoe, an upcoming star expressed that the event was laudable and prayed that the efforts and initiatives of organizations like WISA would be commended and rewarded. The launch of WISA attracted members of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) and all the television stations were represented.
