Winger Portia Boakye will captain the Black Queens team at the WAFU Women’s Cup of Nations tournament in Cote d’ Ivoire.
Boakye was appointed the stand-in captain for the team in the absence of Elizabeth Addo.
Addo was excused from the squad after securing herself a new Club in the States.
Assistant Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo who will be leading the side named the Ferencvárosi TC attacker as the skipper.
She was named the substantive captain having made the team as one of the longest-serving members of the current Black Queens squad.
Ghana will take on host Cote d’ Ivoire in the opening match on Wednesday(Today)
Meanwhile Ghana’s Ambassador to Ivory Coast HE Frederick Daniel Laryea paid a visit to the Black Queens after Tuesday afternoon’s training session at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny venue for today’s WAFU B’ Women’s Cup opener against the host nation.
