Work begins on Accra Sports Stadium pitch

The football pitch at the Accra Sports Stadium, has been razed down by contractors, as renovation works continue at the venue ahead of the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations to be hosted by Ghana.

Green Grass Technology (GGT), contractors working on the re-grassing of the pitch on Friday, erased every grass on the pitch, to pave way for re-grassing.

The re-grassing is expected to bring to an end the long search for solution to the low quality nature of the pitch over the past years.

The exercise forms part of efforts to get the national stadium into a good shape before the commencement of the competition in November.

Information gathered by the GNA Sports reveals that, work on the pitch is expected to be complete by the end of October.

Aside the pitch, portions of the Stadium is also under renovation as the VIP area of the facility has been closed down.
