The Accra Sports Stadium is still receiving some finishing touches, after undergoing a massive facelift months ago ahead of the Total Africa Women’s Cup of Nations last year.
A visit by the GNA Sports, to check on the progress of renovation, saw workers scrapping off the rusty portions of the metals behind the scoreboard for painting.
"We are still working on the rusty metals using sand with the help of a machine providing a force of air, after which painting would be done,’’ one of the workers said.
Currently, the pitch has been trimmed and marked, treated and watered as well, in other to preserve its green nature and resist sunburn
The $12.5 million renovations, saw a total regrassing of the pitch by the green grass technology, painting and replacement of seats and mounting of the scoreboard alongside refinishing the VIP section.
The stadium is still in use as far as a series of activities are concerned, it’s still unclear when works are supposed to end.
