Lions FC of Yendi won two of their matches played on Sunday to top Zone "A" in the first division qualifying tournament at Yendi.
They beat Bimbilla Otampuyoyo 2-1 on Sunday morning and whipped Bimbilla Nationals by the same margin in the afternoon.
They will meet the winners of Zone 'B' comprising Tamale all Stars, Savelugu Yoo stars and Bole United to determine who qualifies for the first division.
The match between Lions FC and Otampuyoyo was full of action with both teams putting up spirited performance to carry the day. Otampuyoyo took the lead in the 10th minute through inside right Abdulai Seidu.
Lions FC took up the challenge and pilled up pressure on Otampuyoyo and this fetched them the equaliser in the 33rd minute through Abdul-Salami Ibrahim. Abdul-Salami scored the winner in the 51st minute through a free-kick.
The second match between Lions FC and Bimbilla Nationals was equally keenly contested with Abdul-Salami scoring both goals for his side. Bimbilla National redeemed one goal in the 36th minute through outside left Mohammed Tikunya.
