In a thrilling showdown at the Accra Sports Stadium, Young Apostles clinched promotion to the Ghana Premier League by overcoming the Techiman Heroes in a dramatic penalty shootout.

The playoff match ended 1-1 in regular and extra time, forcing the teams into a nail-biting penalty shootout.

Suleman Yahaya Abu emerged as the hero, scoring the decisive penalty that secured a 4-3 victory for Young Apostles.

The match saw Techiman Heroes initially taking the lead in the shootout as the Young Apostles missed two spot-kicks.

However, the tide turned when Emmanuel Owusu and Ebenezer Agyapong missed their penalties for the Techiman Heroes.

The final twist came when Mathew Amponsah of the Techiman Heroes missed his penalty, setting the stage for Abu to seal the victory.

Young Apostles will join the Ghana Premier League for the 2024/25 season, making them the fifth team from the Bono Ahafo region to reach the top tier.

Vision FC from Zone 3 has also secured promotion to the Ghana Premier League, with the representative from Zone 2 yet to be decided.
