Olympic bronze medallist and double World Championship bronze medallist Dennis Mitchell finished a disappointing fifth, 0.27 seconds behind the Ghanaian sprinter Zakari , in the 100 metres at the IAAF Grand Prix in Zagreb last night.

The American was a big draw for the crowd but the race was won by Abdul Aziz Zakari, in a modest 10.15secs.

Matt Shirvington of Australia was second in 10.30, followed by Nobuharu Asahara, of Japan, in 10.32.
