Egyptian giants Zamalek have withdrawn their lucrative offer for Ghana striker Junior Agogo.

A source close to the Zamalek board has told Ghanasoccernet that they will look elsewhere for a replacement for the Ghanaian forward. The five-time African champions are furious that one week after the Nottingham Forest forward agreed to the deal after a meeting and he has still not signed the contract.

Zamalek are keen to return to the top of continental football and offered a record deal to Agogo in their quest to conquer African once again and play at the Fifa Club World Cup.The Black Stars striker is said to be eyeing a deal in Dubai which has so far not been tabled and unlikely to be made.

The Egyptians, who have brought in former AC Milan coach Alberto Zaccheroni to oversee the revolution at club, are angry that despite the incentives given to Agogo he is still dragging his feet.

Agogo could end up staying with English side Nottingham Forest for the foreseeable future if the deal in Egypt slips through his fingers. A German second division club and a Turkish side, who have both expressed interest in Agogo, have offered by far less wages and could not even meet the transfer demands of Nottingham.

At 29, Zamalek will offer him high level competition than the league in Dubai as well as giving him the best offer he has received in his career. With age catching up on Agogo, few clubs in Europe are ready to risk buying him. source: Ghanasoccernet
