EX- Black Stars head coach, Ralf “The Cat” Zumdick returned to the country last week Wednesday after honouring an invitation from the new owners of Ashantigold SC, Fortia Limited to spend a month with the club as they round up preparations for the upcoming Onetouch Premier League. It would be recalled that Fortia recently invited renowned football transfer agent, Pini Zahavi and Mike Makaab (CEO of Prosport International) to Ghana to check out their team at Obuasi.

In an exclusive interview with 90 Minutes over the weekend, Zumdick was more than happy to be called upon to lend a hand to help propel the club to the desired heights they aspire to reach. He told us: “Herbert and I are good friends so when he invited me to come over and see his project, I was more than excited as it's interesting to see the kind of job he (Herbert) is doing at Obuasi. I'm not in town to be the head coach of the club but as a good friend of Herbert, when he invited me to come over to look at his new plans, I said why not?”

Asked whether he might be available to assume the position of the head coach if Herbert convinces him, he said: “Not at the moment as I came in only as an adviser and to team up with them (Fortia Limited) for the development of the club. Maybe, the team is not so matured like Kotoko and Hearts, but I can say that they've got great potential to make it to the top,” he continued. “The facilities here are good even though a little refurbishment is needed to put them good shape. The players' good discipline level, love for club and the fighting character imbibed in them makes them well tuned for the task ahead. But the fans should know that it's a big project and needs a step by step approach before the desired dreams can be realized”. Acting Head Coach of the club, Momcilo Medic from Serbia is expected to benefit immensely from the visit of the onetime head coach of Asante Kotoko and King Faisal with his vast knowledge in association football.
