A TOUCH of class performance spurred prolific female golfer, Mona Captan, to victory in the women?s edition of the Achimota Golf Club Monthly Medal, on Saturday, August 5, at the club?s course, reports Isaac Franklin. Mona eased past her opponents, with 70 net, with F. Vandyck clinching the second spot, after bagging 72 net.
E. Lomans and A. Horsman took the third and fourth positions, respectively, while Mrs Van Luit secured 96 net to grab the Booby prize.
The Men?s category of the Monthly Medal saw Alain Hourcade coming tops in the Division A, with 75 net, while E. Addo-Mensah and Albert Brock won the second and third spots, with 77 and 79 nets, in that order.
In the Division B of the Men?s event, Fred Van Luit emerged winner, after amassing 72 net, to beat G. Molefi and Eddie Addo, who had 77 net, apiece to clinch the second and third positions, respectively.
G. Fred came out as the Booby prize winner, with 116 net, while the Juniors? 9-hole event was won by Master P. Jupenee, with 60 net.
Mr. Eric Omani-Mensah, marketing manager of Vitamilk, sponsors of the Championship, was impressed with the level of sportsmanship displayed by the contestants, and expressed gratitude to them, as well as the management of the club, for making the Championship a success.
He promised that Vitamilk would continue to promote golf in the country, saying that the company would sponsor the Monthly Medal, every three months.
