London, Aug 17, GNA 96 Silas Tetteh, the caretaker coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars has said that he did not apply for the Black Stars coaching job that was left vacant after the departure of Serbian Ratomir Djukovic because he feels the timing is not right.

Silas Tetteh who handled the team when they beat Ghana's eastern neighbours, Togo 2-0 in an international friendly match in London, said even though he initially entertained the thought of applying, he feels his time has not yet come.

"I am young and still learning, I'm therefore never in a rush, because definitely my time will come".

"My plan fort now is to work hard for the senior national team to ensure that the team fulfils all the desires and aspiration of the soccer loving Ghanaians".

The coach who also doubles as the coach of Dansoman based Liberty Professionals, a local First Division Club said he is a team player and prepared to work with anybody to build on who ever is appointed. He said the team is still in a building process and With every match, the hard work done over the years keep yielding some fruits but the team is far away from being called a finish product.

"Now our focus will be on polishing the shooting ability of the team and hopefully with time, the goals will start coming in at the frequency that all Ghanaians want".

He said that 'It is not new that the team has a goal scoring problem, but I will not fault any player for the team's woes as far as that department of the game is concerned because it is the desire of any striker or for that matter player to score in any match he plays, hence they become not happy when the goals do not come".

Coach Tetteh was optimistic that with the rate that the team improves match after match all will soon be well.

On why he left the Roma star defender, Samule Osei Kuffour from the encounter, Silas Tetteh said the player wanted to play but asked that he should be excused due to an injury.

"As it is our policy now, we have to check with officials of Roma who confirmed that the player was indeed injured, hence the reason Kuffour was not on the starting line up". 17 Aug. 06
