Asante Kotoko beat Bofoakwa

Cape Coast, Feb. 15, GNA - Kumasi Asante Kotoko played an improved game to beat Tano Bofoakwa 2-0 in their Onetouch Premier league encounter at the Cape Coast Robert Mensah sports stadium on Thursday. After a goalless first half, Kotoko resumed he second half full of fight and scored the opener in the 74th minute through midfielder Mark Edu Amofa in a goalmouth scramble.

Inspired by the goal, Kotoko continued to pile pressure on their opponents and kept their vital area boiling but had to wait until the 85th minute when a hard pressed defender of Bofoakwa handled the ball in the 18 yard box.

Referee Sumaila Ibrahim in the middle of affairs awarded a penalty to Kotoko which Michael Ofosu Appiah converted to bring his side's goal tally to two.

Bofoakwa made frantic efforts in the dying minutes of the game in search of at least a consolation goal but Kotoko defence spearheaded by Michael Asante held them at bay until the referee's final whistle to end proceedings.
