The Ghana Football Association has handed Silas Tetteh a third shot at the Black Starlets job as he takes over the technical reins of the junior team.
The appointment of the Black Stars assistant coach was confirmed on Thursday following the resignation of former team coach, Fred Osam Duodu.
Silas Tetteh’s immediate task would be to prepare the team for next month’s World Cup tournament to be hosted by South Korea.
According to the FA, Silas Tetteh still maintains his role with the senior team, the Black Stars. But would be at the helm of the Black Starlets technical set up for the World Cup.
Ghana, two-time World champions play in Group F’s opening game against Trinidad and Tobago on August 20 at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup to be hosted by South Korea. The group also includes Germany and Colombia.
This would be Silas Tetteh’s third stint with the Black Starlets.
Silas Tetteh had his first stint with the junior side in 1999 playing the role of an assistant coach to Cecil Jones Attuquayefio at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in New Zealand where Ghana picked up bronze.
In 2002, Silas Tetteh took charge of the Black Starlets team but Ghana failed to qualify for the African Junior Championship.
Silas Tetteh now replaces Fred Osam Duodu, who quit his post over the weekend citing personal reasons.
The FA on Tuesday accepted the veteran manager's decision to end his relationship with the junior national team.
