Essien won't apologise for 'crunch' tackle

Blackstars midfielder Michael Essien will not say sorry to Leon Osman for his "crunching" challenge on the Everton midfielder.

The Chelsea star is disappointed with the post-match reaction to the tackle and believes he did nothing wrong, although it did earn him a booking during the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Tim Cahill asked Essien to say sorry and claims he is getting a reputation for "dodgy" challenges.

Now Cahill hopes Essien will apologise once he has seen a replay of the incident, which left Osman requiring lengthy treatment from physio Mick Rathbone.

Cahill said: "I was behind Ossie (Osman), so I didn't really see the tackle. I only heard the crunch. "If he's gone over the top, he'll apologise. He's known for a few dodgy tackle-i think he will know it and apologise'

Everton boss David Moyes described the tackle as "not the best" but referee Alan Wiley showed only a yellow card to the Ghanaian international.
