Keepers' coach backs Kingson to bounce back

Ghana's Richard Kingson has been backed by Birmingham goalkeepers' trainer to recover from his Premier League debut mistake that cost his place at the club.

The Black Stars keeper nearly slipped in an effort that allowed routine shot squirm under his body that changed the balance of the game Portsmouth's way two weeks ago.

Birmingaham new coach Alex McLeish immediately brought the axe down, with Maik Taylor earning a recall and Colin Doyle returning to the substitutes bench.

This means since McLeish took over as coach, Kingson has not even been named in the club's line up let alone the substitutes bench.

But Birmingahm keepers' trainer Nigel Spink says the error by Kingson is not a true reflection of the ability of the Black Stars keeper.

Spink said: "I didn't need to tell Richard or say anything about the mistake, he's an international goalkeeper.
