BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech junior Patrick Nyarko became the first men's soccer player to earn All-American honors, College Soccer News announced Thursday. He was one of three forwards to earn first-team honors, and is tied for the team lead with seven goals along with a team-high 10 assists, totaling 24 points.

In addition to earning first-team All-ACC honors for the third consecutive season, Nyarko is among the 15 semifinalists for the 2007 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy. The Kumasi, Ghana, native has 31 career goals, which is tied for third on the school's career list. His 24 career assists are third in school history. Nyarko has posted a pair of three-point games this season, at Tulsa and against Maryland, to go along with back-to-back game-winning goals in Tech's pair of 1-0 victories in the last two rounds of the NCAA Tournament: at 22:44 at home against Old Dominion in the third round, and at 21:39 in the quarterfinal match at Connecticut.

No. 11 seed Virginia Tech is making its first-ever appearance in the College Cup against No. 2 seed Wake Forest tomorrow evening in the semifinals of the NCAA Championship. The Hokies are 14-3-5 overall this season, while the Demon Deacons stand 20-2-2.
