Ghana's in-form midfielder Laryea Kingston is confident he will be fit for the start of the African Cup of Nations next month.

The Scotland-based, who has been the Black Stars most impressive player this year, suffered an ankle injury during training last week.

The Hearts player's injury was thought not to be serious and was expected to miss just two matches.

But after tests on Friday doctors of the Scottish side say the midfielder could be out till January.

Despite the revelation by Hearts, Kingston is confident he will recover well in time for the tournament which starts on 20 January.

"I want to assure fans that I will be ready when the Nations Cup kicks off," Kingston told Ghanasoccernet.com .

"I have had this injury before and I am confident that the regime I am going through will make my recovery quick.

"I am even targeting that I can return to play for Hearts before I head off to Ghana."

Even though Kingston is confident of play at the tournament in his home country he expressed his frustration at the injury.

"I was enjoying a very good time in my career and was pleased with my form and the performance for both my country and club.

"When I suffered this injury it really affected me because it was going to interrupt this high point in my career.

"But God knows best why this injury came at this time. If it had been a little it later it would have wrecked my Nations Cup plans."
