Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has dispatched food and medicine worth US$100,000 to Ghanaian populated towns in Togo ravaged by last week's floods.
Severe flooding in Baguida and Kabou ensued in the wake of torrential rains, killing many people and rendering thousands homeless.
The England-based player was not given permission to inspect the damage in his country because of their participation in the Champions League today, but he managed to send relief items to help the needy.
Togo's Minister for Security, Colonel Atcha Titikpina Mohammed and Maimounatou Ibrahima, the Togolese Minister for Social Welfare received the food items from Mrs Alice Emiola Adebayor, who made he donation on behalf of her son on Tuesday.
"Adebayor is not only promoting our country across the world with his performance for Arsenal, but by this act in this pressing time he has shown that he is a true son of Togo," Colonel Mohammed said.
"The flood disaster is becoming more complex and assuming alarming proportions."
Meanwhile, the Arsenal striker will arrive in Togo next month during the international break to reveal more plans to help those affected by the floods.
"Ade is talking to some international partnners and friends about more aid to be sent to the country," Fousenna Djagba, CEO of Z-Sports International, the firm managing Adebayor's continental affairs said.
"He will use the international break to see the damage for himself before revealing the big plan."
The Arsenal striker made a substantial donation in Ghana over the summer break to help needy students in the West African country.
