Togo's World Cup qualifier home tie to be played in Ghana

Accra, March 20, GNA -- Togo's national soccer team is to play their opening match in the final phase of World Cup/Nations Cup qualifiers in Ghana as the ban on their home matches continues to be carried out.

According to a source from the Togo Football Federation cited by The West African country received a four-match home ban after violence at the end of their 2008 African Nations Cup qualifying campaign where supporters attacked players from opponents Mali when Togo were knocked out. The encounter is expected to bring out the best from the two teams that would ensure a lively evening for soccer fans in the Accra Metropolis as Emmanuel Adebayor of Arsenals lead the onslaught for Togo while the Cameroonians are expected to field such seasoned players like Samuel E'too Fils, veteran Rigobert Song as well as safe hands keeper Idris Kameni

Togo, surprise qualifiers for the last World Cup 2006 in Germany alongside Ghana's Black Stars, Tunisia and Cote D'Ivoire represented the African Continent. Meanwhile Ghana' Black Stars will take on Benin's national team, the Panthers in a World Cup/Nations Cup group qualifier on March 29 at the Baba Yara Sports stadium, Kumasi. 20 March 09
