I don't hate Tawrick Jibril: Sellas Tetteh

IN an interview with 90 MINUTES newspaper, Sellas Tetteh, coach of the national U-21 side, the Black Satellites has angrily reacted in response to stories going round that he dislikes Accra Hearts of Oak's exciting midfielder, Tawrick Jibril.

Earlier last week, Tetteh released a list of 24 players which would be eventually pruned down to 21 minus fan favourite, Tawrick. This has led to many soccer enthusiasts questioning the rationale behind the player's omission. Callers to various sports programmes have accused the national coach of having an axe to grind with the youngster, who has had stints with the likes of Atletico Madrid in Spain and Portsmouth in England.

But according to the former Black Stars Coach, he believes the players called up for camping are the best materials available and has every confidence in them to make the nation proud at the FIFA World Youth Championships slated for Egypt next month. When asked why Tawrick Jibril couldn't make the 24man squad, Sellas said: "Those players are the best that I can pick for the nation and that is exactly what I have done.” He was however shocked to learn of the stories making rounds in the media that he was not on good terms with Tawrick. He reacted furiously: “This is absolutely unbelievable. I have so many things to think about and that is certainly not one of them. What problem do I have with the boy?” he queried. “These stories are unfounded and I can tell you categorically that I have nothing against the player.
