Nyarko trains with Monaco

Everton midfielder Alex Nyarko trained with Monaco yesterday as he bids to seal a two-month loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer.

Nyarko is effectively moving back to France on trial, with Monaco reportedly already in discussions with Everton over the transfer fee should the midfielder prove he can recapture the sort of form which made him a great favourite at Lens.

The 27-year-old Ghanaian took part in the afternoon training session with the rest of the first team and said: "We needed to check out my fitness as to be honest, I haven't trained for a while."

Monaco have made a dreadful start to the season, currently lying bottom of the league, and new coach Didier Deschamps is under pressure to bring new players into the club.

Despite failing to cope with the pressures of English Premiership football, Nyarko is still highly respected in France and boss Walter Smith will be keen to recoup as much as possible of the ?4.5million fee he paid 12 months ago for the midfielder.
