Sunyani based referee attacks Sports analyst

It seems referees in Ghana have sworn not to help curb their often accused crime of accepting bribery and promoting corruption in our game. They don’t want to change their ways for good.

One of such men is Sunyani based Class One Referee Asante Krobea who has strategized his tactics that, he will commit the offence and any sports presenter who dare criticize him will be openly attacked and assaulted. SportsInGhana.com can reveal that referee Asante Krobea has taken it a step too far by assaulting a sports presenter in Sunyani. Not on duty at Sunday’s Division One League match at the Sunyani Coronation Park between B/A Stars and Roven Rovers, the above mentioned referee deliberately went to the stadium to attack Sports journalist Raymond Yeboah who works for Ark FM for daring to criticize him.

Eye-witness accounts privy to SportsInGhana.com say referee Asante Krobea openly assaulted Mr. Yeboah on the basis that the sports analyst had criticized him and other referees on air about their poor performances at the league centres. In fact, he totally tore Raymond Yeboah’s clothes into complete shreds in full glare at the Coronation Park.

It will be recalled that it was this same referee, Asante Krobea, who about 3years ago was assaulted by then B/A United CEO, Kwadwo Yeboah Fordwo on the field of play because of his alleged biased officiating.

“I was one of the sports presenters who condemned Fordwo's act and he resigned in my name from his position as CEO,” Raymond Yeboah, the sports presenter attacked, told SportsInGhana.com via phone from Sunyani.

He has also made a plea to the GFA, DOL Board and the Referees Appointments Committee to punish referee Asante Krobes severely to deter others. “I entreat referees appointment committee to remove referees like Asante Krobea who do the job with their stomach and are as a result destroying our game. He is an apology of a referee,” Raymond Yeboah stated. Credit: SportsInGhana.com
