Work on Cape Coast Sports stadium to start soon

Cape Coast, May 17, GNA- Construction works on the Cape Coast Sports Stadium which was abandoned due to lack of funds will commence soon, Mrs Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Central Regional Minister has announced. Mrs Benyiwa-Doe gave the assurance when the playing body and the executives of Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs paid a courtesy call on her to officially inform her of the Club's triumphant qualification to the Premier Division.

She said the Regional Coordinating Council is working around the clock to acquire funds to complete the project. Dwarfs came first with nine points in the Zone 2B National Middle League to gain promotion to the Premier League after five years sojourn in the Division One. The Regional Minister said the success of every goal depends on discipline and therefore appealed to the playing body and supporters to comport themselves during their League matches to avoid sanctions from the Ghana Football Association.

Mrs. Benyiwa-Doe appealed to the playing body to respect authority and take their training seriously to sustain and ensure the existence of the Club and to also take their education seriously. She commended Nana Aidoo, Chief Executive of Dwarfs and his executives as well as the supporters for working hard to bring the Club back to the Premier Division and assured them of the Regional Administration's support in all their plans.

Mr Anthony Aikins, the Cape Coast Metropolitan Chief Executive said the massive support given the team by especially government officials during the Middle League has no political motive and that the time has come for people in the Central Region to unite to recover their past glories. Nana Aidoo assured the people of the Cape Coast Metropolis that now that the team is in Premier Division, it will be restructured into a formidable one to stand the test of time. He commended Mr Amissah Arthur, Governor of Bank of Ghana, Mr Barton Oduro, Deputy Attorney General, the Regional Minister, the Central Regional House of Chiefs and the media for contributing in diverse ways towards the promotion of the Club.

Nana Aidoo also promised to assist Cape Coast Venomous Vipers to gain promotion to the Premier Division during the next League season. Nana Kwamena Nimfa VII, Adontenhene of the Oguaa Traditional Area on behalf of Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area commended the playing body, the executives and supporters of the Club for their yeoman's job. Thousands of the supporters of the Club had given the team a tumultuous welcome and later went on a carnival through the principal streets of the Metropolis amid brass band music. The carnival, which started at the offices of the Regional Administration ended at the Golden Jubilee Park, also known as Victoria Park where Nana Aidoo urged the supporters to continue to support the club to develop into a winsome side. 15 May 10
