ANC, Cosatu call for support for Ghana

The ANC and Cosatu on Sunday called on South Africans to rally behind Ghana calling it the continent’s pride. The Black Stars became the only African nation to progress to the quarter finals of the FIFA World Cup.

They beat USA 2-1 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on Saturday night.

The ANC said Ghana has salvaged Africa’s soccer reputation and have what it takes to make it all the way to the finals of the tournament. “We appeal to all African supporters to be behind Black Stars because they are not only Black Stars of Ghana but Black Stars of Africa,” said the party’s Jackson Mthembu.

Meanwhile, Cosatu called on Ghana to avenge Bafana Bafana’s loss to Uruguay when the two countries meet at Soccer City on Friday
