Accra, July 11, GNA - Many more Ghanaian soccer fans have expressed their support for the retention of the head coach of the Black Stars, Milovan Rajevac following the success of the team at the FIFA World Cup 2010.
It is the opinion of some soccer fans that retaining the services or the renewal of his contract will be of immense contribution to the sustenance of the team for future events.
Interviews conducted by the GNA Sports with a number of sports enthusiasts in the Accra Metropolis gave thumbs up for the achievement of the coach and his technical team and for the success of the Stars.
Coach 'Milo' as is affectionately called by soccer fans in Ghana has a two year contract which will end in August this year but it is the expectation of the President John Evans Atta Mills, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Football Association as well as the playing body and other stakeholders to see to the renewal of the contract for continuity sake.
The Serbian having taken the Black Stars to the finals of Angola 2010 and the quarter finals of the World Cup have won the hearts of many Ghanaians including the Black Stars team with his tactical discipline.
The question as to maintaining him as the coach for the rest of the years' seems not to be debatable as many have expressed their satisfaction about his performance.
Captain Stephen Appiah did not say anything different from what the public had expressed. He praised Milovan no how far he got the team prepared for the World Cup.
Nana Kwaku Agyeman a coach and a Sports analyst in his view noted that the coach should be maintained for continuity and consistency looking at how the coach has groomed the young team who he relates to so well and vice versa, applying to his formation.
He however said a few local coaches should be attached to the head coach to ensure the continuation of the same brand of tactics and soccer prowess of the team when he finally leaves.
Ms. Elizabeth Ansah a student of Osu Presec, Kojo Mensah, a trader and Sadik Abubakar, a civil servant gave good comments about the capabilities of the coach but did not leave out his flaws.
They said that the coach's way of substitutions are too much of a delay and complained about his language deficiency as a major barrier to effective communication with the team as he is not able to communicate with the players on individual basis
Some of the soccer fans on the other hand think the coach should definitely be maintained since he is a good tactician and has developed a good level of acquaintance with the players and that the investment made on him is so enormous that Ghana would be on the loosing side if his contract is terminated.
A new coach would mean a fresh beginning for the team. But as Ghanaians wait patiently for the GFA to confirm his stay, Milovan would also have to give his consent of staying or not in the interest of Ghana soccer.
