Zakkour to be responsible for any attacks on Hasaacas

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has threatened to hold Mr Harry Zakkour, Chief Executive of Accra Hearts of Oak, personally responsible for any attack on supporters, players and officials of Hasaacas whenever they play in Accra.

A statement signed by Mr Ampem Darko, General Secretary of the GFA, said the FA considers the threat issued by the Hearts chairman to attack supporters of Hasaacas any time they come to Accra as most irresponsible.

It said, with the 9 May 2001 tragedy, which claimed 126 lives still fresh in memory, and the recent spate of hooliganism that has engulfed soccer in the country, the FA would not tolerate such unguided statements.

The statement said that the FA would institute an enquiry into the alleged assault of Hearts' players and officials with the view of punishing those implicated.

It would be recalled that Mr Zakkour personally threatened to lead Hearts supporters to retaliate against the bad treatment meted out to Hearts officials by the supporters of Hasaacas during their 24th week league encounter at Sekondi in the Western Region, if the FA failed to discipline Hasaacas. Hearts lost that particular match by a lone goal.
