German-born Ghanaian forward, Aaron Opoku was on the scoresheet, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Eintracht Braunschweig from a defeat to Elversberg in the German Bundesliga 2 on Saturday afternoon.

The 26-year-old forward, who joined Braunschweig in February 2026 started and played for 61 minutes, as his outfit succumbed to a 2-1 away defeat to Elversberg in a highly competitive clash, held at the URSAPHARM-Arena an der Kaiserlinde.

Despite the loss, Opoku was one of the standout performers for Braunschweig, earning high ratings in the match.

The home team wasted no time in opening the scoring, with Bulgaria international Lukas Petkov finding the back of the net, just five minutes into the game before doubling the advantage for the host in the 23rd-minute mark.

Before the half hour mark, the German-Ghanaian attacker scored to reduce the deficit for the visitors after being set up by Johan Gomez in the 35th-minute.

With no additional goal in the second half, the home team cruised to victory to merit the three maximum points at stake.

Since joining the club, Opoku has made three appearances in the Bundesliga 2, scoring one goal across the period.
