Otumfuo (in blue kente) scored a penalty kick at a ceremonial event
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has been trending on social media following the resurfacing of an old video in which he scored from the penalty spot during a ceremonial event.
This took place in 2019 at the grand opening of a sports complex facility at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
During the proceedings, Otumfuo was invited to grace the occasion and was asked to take a penalty kick, which he executed brilliantly.

Although dressed in his traditional apparel, the Asantehene took his time, studied the goalkeeper and the post, and calmly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
He received massive cheers from the crowd and dignitaries present, who applauded his footballing skills at his age.
The sports complex, constructed by MMANAB Company Limited, a private construction firm, boasts several modern sporting amenities.
The facility includes a spacious gym with extensive training equipment, an astro turf pitch, basketball and tennis courts, among others.
As Chancellor of KNUST, the Asantehene officially cut the tape to commission the facility, supported by other university officials.
The video has resurfaced on social media, where football fans have marveled at Otumfuo’s skills and even lauded him as a better penalty taker than some active footballers today.
