Ibrahim Danlad is a former Black Stars goalkeeper
Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad has expressed confidence that the Black Stars' playing body will make the country proud at the 2026 World Cup.
The senior national team will make its appearance at the tournament, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Despite failing to go past the group phase in the 2014 and 2022 editions in Brazil and Qatar, respectively, Danlad, who was included in Ghana's squad for the last edition of the Mundial in Qatar, believes that the players will make the country and themselves proud.
“Every qualified team has the potential to make history, and Ghana is no different," he told 3Sports.
"The team just needs our support, prayers and encouragement for every player who earns a spot in the final squad.
"I am very confident that the team will make both Ghana and themselves proud," he added.
The four-time African champions have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23 and close the group phase against Croatia on June 27.
After back-to-back group-stage exits at the 2014 and 2022 World Cups in Brazil and Qatar, the team is hoping for a deeper run in the United States, where they will base themselves at Bryant University throughout the tournament.
