Promising Ghanaian sprinter, Gladys Boateng, popularly known as “Gaza,” has revealed that her journey into athletics was inspired by her elder sister.

The 100metre and 200metre runner said she developed an interest in the sport during her primary school days and has continued to compete with the dream of reaching the very top.

Speaking in an interview with Akoma FM, Gladys Boateng explained that her performances on the track are the result of dedication and determination rather than luck.

“I was inspired by my elder sister to become an athlete, so I started in primary school, and I’m still competing now,” she said.

Gladys Boateng emphasised that her confidence comes from the hard work she has invested in training over the years.

“My performance is not a fluke, it is the result of hard work, determination and support from God. I only need a good start, and when I get it, nobody can come close to me. I will finish the race very quickly."

“I want to represent Ghana and become a world champion one day,” she stated.

Boateng continues to build her reputation as one of the young athletes aiming to make an impact in Ghana’s sprinting scene.
