Some Chelsea fans were left fuming on social media after their team’s embarrassing 5-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Champions League on March 11, 2026.

The game was end-to-end action as both teams opened up and attacked freely. The home side opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Barcola, before Chelsea responded with Malo Gusto’s strike.

Reigning Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé restored PSG’s lead before halftime, but the Blues equalised again through Enzo Fernández to make it 2-2.

The game was evenly poised at that stage, but a misplaced pass from goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen allowed Vitinha to score PSG’s third goal. Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s brace then sealed a comfortable 5-2 win for the French club.

After the game, some fans took to social media to vent their displeasure at Jorgensen for the costly error that denied Chelsea a decent result ahead of the second leg.

They argued that the defeat stemmed from Jorgensen’s inability to deliver a better pass to his teammate, and that the goal which followed unsettled the players, leading to a heavy loss.

Others slammed head coach Liam Rosenior for trusting Jorgensen to start such a high-stakes match despite his lack of experience, instead of opting for regular goalkeeper Robert Sánchez.

Some aggrieved fans also noted that the coach could have substituted Jorgensen at halftime when he was underperforming, allowing Sánchez to take over, a move they believe could have prevented the heavy defeat and kept Chelsea’s progress less complicated.

The second leg between Chelsea and PSG will take place at the Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
