Wad Madany, Sudan, Feb. 6, GNA - South Africa coach,

Simon Ngomane has lauded his players tactical discipline in their

2-1 win over Ghana's Black Stars in their Group B opener of the

2011 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Saturday, in

Wad Madany, Sudan. Coach Ngomane said in a post-match interview that his

charges' ability to match the Ghanaians early in the game aided

their course for victory. "The game was very physical. The Ghana team came in

strongly but we were prepared for them. After holding them, we

switched to our style and that resulted in the two goals in the

second half. "It is a positive result and it gives enough confidence to my

players. No one gave us a chance against Ghana, but we proved

our doubters wrong." Coach Ngomane explained that the opening performance

serves a good sign in line with their ambition to go farthest at the

tournament meant for footballers playing in their countries of birth. "The victory is a sign that we can do more, and there is still

room to improve. The result came as a result of hard work and I

commend my team on that." The Amabinneplaas coach has also warned his charges to

avoid complacency whilst urging them to maintain their focus in

the remaining games. South Africa next play fellow debutants Niger, who beat

Zimbabwe by a lone goal next Wednesday in Wad Madany, whilst

Ghana engages Zimbabwe.
