Stonebwoy has likened his long-standing rivalry with Shatta Wale to the historic "Super Clash" between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, describing it as an essential competitive energy for Ghana’s entertainment industry.
Speaking at the Ghana World Cup fundraising launch at the Kempinski Hotel on Friday, March 20, 2026, the dancehall star argued that while the two camps may never fully merge, their friction drives national excitement.
He explained that just as the two football giants must remain distinct to keep the sport vibrant, he and Shatta Wale serve as pillars of a "healthy competition" that brings joy to the nation.
“This is a very important call to all of us. You know that Kotoko and Phobia can never be one. They are two different teams who have to continue to keep that competitive energy to bring joy to the nation."
“And if I say that, you guys know what I mean. Exactly. The minister said it is a healthy competition, which I believe it is."
“But we just have to watch it so that we drop some tones of things that are going to affect the healthiness of that competition moving forward, especially the vulgar and all those ones, which you can hardly find in the BIM Nation camp. I stand to be very honest.”
The event took a historic turn when President Mahama intervened, leading to a symbolic on-stage hug between the two icons.
The reconciliation was backed by massive financial commitments to the Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup campaign; Stonebwoy pledged $101,000 in cash and services, narrowly outstripping Shatta Wale’s $100,000 pledge, further cementing the competitive spirit he defended.
