Ghanaian forward Latif Atta Blessing has officially switched his international allegiance from Ghana to Niger, ending years of uncertainty over his future with the Ghana Black Stars.

The 29-year-old, who was crowned Ghana Premier League Player of the Year in 2016, had long harbored hopes of representing Ghana at senior level.

Despite being named in the Black Stars’ preliminary squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, Blessing never made a competitive appearance for the national team.

After years of waiting for an opportunity that never materialized, the attacker has now opted to pursue his international career with Niger, a move that could offer him regular playing time on the international stage.

Sources close to the player indicate that the decision was driven by frustration over limited chances with Ghana, despite consistent performances at club level over the years.

Blessing’s switch underscores the growing trend of dual-eligible players seeking opportunities elsewhere when national team call-ups remain elusive.

His experience and attacking quality are expected to bolster Niger as they continue to build a competitive squad for upcoming continental competitions.
