Sudan national team coach James Kwasi Appiah
1965 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner, Rev Osei Kofi, has called on football authorities to convince James Kwasi Appiah to take over the coaching job of the Black Stars.
The GFA released an official statement on March 31, 2026, announcing that they had parted ways with Otto Addo and expressed appreciation for his efforts with the team.
Rev Osei Kofi argued that the current Sudan coach has managed the Black Stars before and has the experience to handle the dressing room amid the team’s struggles.
Ghana FA boss explains Otto Addo sacking
In an interview with Citi Sports, Rev Osei Kofi urged authorities to employ Kwasi Appiah to occupy the vacant role.
“You were not prepared, and you sacked the coach? If we want to hire a coach, the best person who will help us is Kwasi Appiah. Aside from him, I don’t see anybody else. A foreigner will need time to understudy, but Appiah knows the system and our brand well. So if they can beg him to help us, it will be very good. Because you sacked him, which was a disgrace, we really need him,” he said.
